Three U.S. soldiers traveling with Pakistan security force members were killed Wednesday in a roadside bombing in northwest Pakistan, Pakistani security officials said.
"They were trainers. They were attached to the Frontier Corps. The dead include three U.S. trainers, one Pakistani paramilitary soldier and three children," military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas told Reuters.
"They were travelling in a car with some Pakistani journalists when the blast happened. A roof of a school collapsed. Some (people) might be trapped," Naikullah Khan, a police official in the region, told Reuters by telephone.
The blast, police said was triggered by a remote-controlled device.
"The wounded are still being brought in," Wakil Mohammad, senior doctor at Dir hospital, told Reuters by telephone.
The United States heavily uses Pakistan to win the invasion in Afghanistan, a top foreign policy priority for President Barack Obama.
